When in Rome...

It is hard for westerners to eat Indian style. It must be that recording of mother's voice telling you to keep your hands out of your food. But an Indian friend explained it this way. He jestured to my spoon and at the same time lifted his right hand. "You have no idea where that thing has been," he said, "but I DO know where this has been." Which is also why people only touch food with their right hand... They know where the left has been.

The most popular food in Hyderabad is biryani - chicken baked in basmati rice. All that red sauce... yes, it is chilis. John's eating partner seems to be saying, "Go ahead, I dare you!"

John Bezuyen, you look good in this picture. Don't come home with this new idea and try it at Ineke's table!
